Take the First Step to Counter-Strike 2: How to Get into the Limited Test

Counter-Strike 2 is a long-awaited sequel to the popular first-person shooter. Fans of the series have been eagerly awaiting the continuation, and the wait is finally over. Starting from March 22, 2023, selected gamers are invited to test the new version on protected Valve servers. In this guide, we'll explain the criteria and provide step-by-step instructions on how to gain access to the CS:GO 2 limited test.

Step 1: Launch CS:GO on Steam

Launch CS:GO on Steam

The first step required to access the limited test in Counter-Strike 2 is to launch your CS:GO game on Steam. Once your game is running, you’ll want to check the Main Menu to see if there’s a beta invite available. If a popup window offers you the chance to enroll in the beta, you’ll want to accept the invitation.

Step 2: Download CS:GO 2 Data

Once you’ve accepted the invite, you’ll need to download the CS:GO 2 data. This can take some time, so make sure you’re prepared for it. Once the data has been downloaded, you’ll need to relaunch the game on Steam. This should bring you to the Limited Test section of the Main Menu.

Step 3: Choose the Game Mode

Once you’ve accessed the Limited Test, you’ll be able to choose your game mode. Currently, players are able to play Deathmatch and Unranked Competitive matches on Dust2. Valve has promised to introduce more features and maps in the future, so stay tuned for updates.

Step 4: Understand the Criteria for Access

Unfortunately, there’s currently no way to register for the limited beta, and Valve will be hand-picking the testers themselves. They have offered some insight into the criteria they are looking for, such as playtime on official CS:GO servers, VAC status on Steam, and trust factor. In short, accounts with no bans or VAC violations and considerable playtime on official servers are most likely to be eligible.

Step 5: Be Aware of Scams

Be Aware of Scams

Unfortunately, there are scammers out there trying to take advantage of eager fans. As we’ve previously mentioned, Valve has not introduced any access keys, so be aware of any offers claiming to provide these.

Conclusion

Valve is continuing to expand access to the CS:GO 2 limited test, so keep your eyes peeled for any updates. Once you’ve been granted access, take advantage of the new maps and modes, as well as the ability to use your inventory items from the original game. Above all, have fun and enjoy the experience!
